Origin Group to Launch Three New Hotels in Phuket

by Nikhil Prasad

Origin Property Public Company Limited is accelerating its expansion in Phuket with an ambitious three-year investment programme covering residential, mixed-use and hospitality developments. At the center of the strategy are three internationally branded hotels offering a combined 601 rooms, alongside plans to increase the company’s cumulative Phuket investment portfolio to THB30 billion by 2028.

According to details reviewed for this Phuket Hotel News report, Origin intends to invest a further THB11.65 billion in Phuket between 2026 and 2028, building on THB18.35 billion already committed as of the end of the second quarter of 2026. The strategy reflects the developer’s intention to establish Phuket as a major long-term business base capable of generating both property sales and recurring hospitality income.

Three International Hotel Brands Join Phuket Pipeline

The hospitality component is a significant part of Origin’s expansion. Three hotels are currently in development with a combined investment value of approximately THB2.7 billion.

The first scheduled to open is Moxy Phuket Chaofah, a 251-room lifestyle hotel under Marriott International’s Moxy brand. The property is targeted to welcome guests during the fourth quarter of 2026, making it the first of Origin’s new Phuket hotels to begin contributing recurring revenue.

It will be followed in the third quarter of 2028 by Motto by Hilton Phuket Kata, a planned 224-room property. Motto by Hilton is a lifestyle-oriented brand that combines compact guestrooms with flexible social spaces and locally influenced experiences.

The third hotel, Moxy Phuket Cherngtalay, is expected to open during the fourth quarter of 2028. The 126-room property will strengthen Origin’s presence in Cherng Talay, one of Phuket’s busiest areas for new residential, hospitality and lifestyle development.

Together, the three hotels demonstrate Origin’s strategy of working with major international hospitality groups while expanding its exposure to Phuket’s tourism industry.

Building a Diversified Phuket Portfolio

Origin began investing in Phuket in 2023 under its “Origin Infinity” concept. By the end of Q2 2026, cumulative investment on the island had reached THB18.35 billion.

A substantial proportion has been directed towards residential real estate. The company’s Phuket portfolio currently includes eight condominium and villa projects comprising 3,937 units, representing an investment value of approximately THB15.65 billion. Origin says the developments have achieved an average sales rate exceeding 60%.

The company is also developing mixed-use projects at two locations: Origin Resorts World Phuket | Bang Tao Beach and Origin Lagoon Cherng Talay Phuket.

Combining residential projects, mixed-use destinations and hotels gives Origin several potential revenue streams. Hotel operations are expected to provide recurring income alongside revenue generated from condominium and villa sales.

Foreign Buyers Drive Demand

Mr. Tanakorn Wuttipong, Chief Executive Officer of the International Business Division at Origin Property Public Company Limited, said Phuket’s position as what the company describes as a “Global Safe Zone”, together with its popularity as a second-home destination, has helped increase international demand.

Foreign buyers now represent an important part of Origin’s Phuket customer base.

Among the company’s overseas buyers, Russians account for the largest share at 46.6%, followed by Polish purchasers at 15.9% and Chinese buyers at 6.4%. Other nationalities collectively represent 31.1%.

The figures highlight the increasingly international nature of Phuket’s property market, particularly in established resort destinations and rapidly expanding west-coast areas.

This international demand is also influencing how developers approach new projects, from locations and facilities to property management, lifestyle services and partnerships with global hospitality brands.

THB11.65 Billion Investment Push

Origin’s next development phase will significantly increase its Phuket footprint.

Between 2026 and 2028, the company plans to invest another THB11.65 billion in new projects, taking its cumulative Phuket investment portfolio to approximately THB30 billion.

Two new condominium developments are planned for 2026 in Cherng Talay and the Kathu-Patong area, with a combined value of THB3.5 billion.

Expansion will continue during 2027 and 2028, when another seven condominium projects with a total value of THB8.15 billion are scheduled for launch.

These developments are expected across Bang Tao Beach, Cherng Talay, Surin Beach, Kata Beach and Phuket Town, giving Origin exposure to several of the island’s most active residential and tourism markets.

The geographical spread also demonstrates the company’s intention to reach different customer groups, including holiday-home purchasers, overseas investors, long-stay residents and domestic buyers.

Another Two Hotels Could Follow

The three confirmed properties may not be the end of Origin’s Phuket hotel expansion.

During 2027 and 2028, the company intends to invest in another two hotels with a combined value of approximately THB1.88 billion.

Locations, room numbers and potential brands have not yet been announced, with Origin currently studying information and negotiating with prospective partners.

Should those developments proceed, they would increase the importance of hospitality within Origin’s overall Phuket portfolio and potentially take the company’s hotel pipeline beyond the three properties already confirmed.

Origin also has previous experience in Phuket’s hotel sector. The group acquired ibis Phuket Kata through One Origin in 2022 before selling the property in mid-2026.

Revenue Generation Starts in Q4 2026

The 2026-2028 period represents a transition for Origin as its Phuket projects move from investment and construction into completion, handover and revenue generation.

New revenue is expected to be recognized from the fourth quarter of 2026 following the handover of two completed developments.

These include SO Origin Bangtao Beach, valued at THB2.8 billion, and Balco Bangtao Beach, valued at THB600 million. Two additional projects are expected to be completed in 2027, followed by another in 2028.

Meanwhile, the hotel portfolio will begin creating recurring cash flow. Moxy Phuket Chaofah is scheduled to lead the process with its Q4 2026 opening, followed by Motto by Hilton Phuket Kata in Q3 2028 and Moxy Phuket Cherngtalay in Q4 2028.

This staggered development schedule allows Origin to progressively increase its exposure to Phuket’s tourism market while recognizing revenue from residential project handovers.

Expanding Into Property Services

Origin is also looking beyond construction and hotel operations by expanding services associated with property ownership and management.

Through subsidiary Primo Service Solutions Public Company Limited, the group provides services covering multiple stages of property management and ownership.

The strategy is designed to respond to consumer priorities surrounding health, convenience, quality of life and long-term wealth management, trends increasingly associated with the growing “Longevity Economy.”

These services could become particularly relevant in Phuket, where luxury residences, second homes, wellness tourism, retirement living and extended stays are becoming increasingly interconnected.

For international property owners, professional after-sales services can also provide practical support with property maintenance, management and other requirements while owners are outside Thailand.

Phuket Takes a Bigger Role in Origin’s Future

Origin’s investment programme demonstrates how Phuket continues to evolve beyond its traditional role as a holiday destination into an increasingly diversified international market for residential property, hospitality and lifestyle development.

The arrival of 601 internationally branded hotel rooms is significant, but the broader scale of Origin’s strategy is equally important. The company is combining hotels with condominiums, villas, mixed-use projects and property-management services to create several complementary revenue streams.

With cumulative Phuket investment targeted to reach THB30 billion by 2028, additional residential developments moving through the pipeline and further hotels under consideration, Origin is making a substantial long-term commitment to the island.

The coming years will determine how effectively this investment translates into sustainable returns, but the scale of development provides another clear indication of confidence in Phuket’s long-term appeal. International buyers, global hotel brands, second-home demand and professionally managed lifestyle developments are all becoming increasingly influential in shaping the island’s property and hospitality landscape.
