This Phuket Hotel News report reveals that the ambitious project reflects strong confidence in Phuket’s future as one of Asia’s premier travel destinations.

Tourism leaders and hospitality investors continue to view the island as a strategic market capable of attracting high-spending international travelers, wellness tourists, luxury holidaymakers, and long-stay visitors from around the world.

Luxury Resort Planned for Prime Kata Beach Location

The EQ Phuket development will be situated on approximately 32 rai of beachfront land on the northern section of Kata Beach, an area long recognized for its popularity among international tourists. The luxury resort will feature approximately 170 keys, consisting of 11 private pool villas, 27 upscale suites, and 132 premium guestrooms.

According to project details, the resort will also include several high-end facilities designed to cater to both leisure and family travelers. Planned amenities include an all-day dining restaurant, pool bar, two swimming pools, fitness center, luxury spa, kids club, and expansive event facilities capable of hosting meetings, weddings, and private functions.

One of the most notable features of the project is the planned beachfront lifestyle zone, which developers intend to transform into a beach club along with a sports and lifestyle hub aimed at creating a complete luxury leisure experience for guests and visitors.

LH Bank Backs Phuket Growth Potential

Mr. Shih Jiing-Fuh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of LH Bank, stated that the bank remains highly confident in Phuket’s long-term tourism prospects despite ongoing global economic uncertainties. He emphasized that Phuket continues to rank among the world’s leading travel destinations and that the EQ Phuket project will further strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness within the international tourism market.

The financing support from LH Bank is also viewed as a major endorsement of ONYX Hospitality Group’s regional growth strategy as the company expands its luxury hospitality footprint across Southeast Asia.

ONYX Expands Luxury Hospitality Portfolio

Mr. Yuthachai Charanachitta, Chief Executive Officer of ONYX Hospitality Group, described EQ Phuket as an important strategic milestone for the company. He explained that the project represents far more than simply adding another luxury hotel to Phuket’s tourism market.

According to him, the resort reflects the company’s broader vision to strengthen its presence in the upscale hospitality segment while creating long-term value for stakeholders, investors, and tourism partners. The project is currently expected to officially open during the second quarter of 2028.

EQ Brand Eyes Strong Impact in Thailand

Mr. Donald Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Equatorial Group, also highlighted the growing international strength of the EQ brand. He pointed to the success of the original EQ Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, which rapidly established itself as one of Malaysia’s leading luxury hospitality destinations and earned global recognition after being ranked among Travel + Leisure magazine’s Top 100 Hotels in the World in 2025.

He added that introducing the EQ brand to Thailand marks another major milestone for the group and that the Phuket project has been carefully designed to offer exceptional guest experiences while standing out in the increasingly competitive luxury resort market.

As Phuket continues to attract international tourism investment and premium hospitality brands, the EQ Phuket project could play a major role in reshaping the future of luxury travel on the island. Industry observers believe the combination of strategic beachfront positioning, strong financial backing, and internationally recognized hospitality expertise may help elevate Phuket’s reputation even further among the world’s elite travel destinations.
