Developed through a management agreement with Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd., this Phuket Hotel News report highlights how the new property will become part of the large-scale Abov Patong mixed-use development, a high-profile hillside project overlooking Patong. The development is expected to combine hospitality, lifestyle and residential experiences within a single destination and will feature hotels, branded residences, entertainment facilities, a clubhouse, theatre, Kids Club and multiple swimming zones designed to attract both international tourists and long-stay visitors.

Major Hospitality Investment in Patong

The upcoming voco Phuket Patong will feature 307 rooms and suites and is being positioned as a premium lifestyle destination within one of Phuket’s busiest tourism districts. Located only 150 meters from Patong Beach, the hotel will offer panoramic ocean views alongside Phuket’s mountainous landscape while placing guests within easy reach of shopping centers, nightlife attractions, restaurants and beach activities.

Hotel facilities are expected to include an all-day dining restaurant, two bars, spa facilities, a fitness center and a swimming pool catering to both leisure and wellness travelers. Its location will also provide convenient access to nearby tourism areas such as Kata, Karon and Kamala beaches, strengthening its appeal among international visitors seeking to explore multiple parts of the island.

voco Brand Expands Across Thailand

The signing reflects the accelerating expansion of the voco brand throughout Thailand and Southeast Asia. Following the successful debut of voco Bangkok Surawong, IHG has continued to strengthen the brand’s regional footprint with several additional projects announced within a short period.

Globally, voco has emerged as one of IHG’s fastest-growing premium hotel brands, with 137 hotels already operating worldwide and more than 100 additional properties currently in development. Regional properties including voco Bandung Setiabudi and voco Scenia Bay Nha Trang have helped establish the brand’s reputation for combining contemporary design, relaxed luxury and personalized guest experiences.

The addition of voco Phuket Patong also further expands IHG’s already substantial presence in Phuket, where the company currently operates hotels across several international brands including InterContinental, Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

Phuket Tourism Continues Strong Recovery

According to Pathana Jitsaereetham, Director of Development for Thailand at IHG, Phuket recorded its strongest tourism high season in five years during 2025, outperforming even pre-pandemic benchmarks. Industry analysts have attributed the resurgence to the island’s continued popularity among travelers seeking tropical destinations offering beaches, luxury accommodation, dining experiences and internationally recognized Thai hospitality.

Pathana stated that the partnership with Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd. would deliver a distinctive property capable of strengthening IHG’s diverse portfolio on the island while giving travelers additional accommodation choices within the premium segment.

Meanwhile, Wuthikrai Kulsirisawad, Chief Executive Officer of Phuket HA 2 Co., Ltd., described the voco brand as an ideal match for the Abov Patong development. He noted that the project aims to elevate Patong’s positioning as a leading lifestyle destination for both residents and tourists while benefiting from IHG’s global hospitality standards and international distribution network.

Phuket Enters a New Era of Premium Tourism

The continued arrival of internationally recognized hotel brands signals growing long-term confidence in Phuket’s tourism economy despite ongoing global economic uncertainties. Large-scale projects such as voco Phuket Patong demonstrate how developers and hospitality groups are increasingly targeting upscale travelers seeking integrated lifestyle experiences rather than traditional resort stays alone. Industry observers believe the combination of luxury accommodation, entertainment facilities and branded residential developments could significantly reshape Patong’s image over the next decade and attract a broader range of international investors and high-spending visitors to the island.
